Light Painting

So I had mentioned in my last post that I had some ideas for more long exposure light painting.  It really is so much fun and opens the door to take creativity to another level.  The weather here in North Carolina has been… weather.  So long exposures and light painting have been a great way to focus energy while stuck indoors.

It’s a little hard while in a small space to make sure that you are not picked up by the camera since you need to keep yourself moving.  The camera captures the light with which you use to do the writing very quickly, while the stationary objects need to remain still to be captured.  In some of these photos you might catch a faint glimpse of me where I ran out of room around my subjects or obstacles, but nothing too drastic.

My roommates were really a blast to work with.  It’s great to share my new favorite hobby with them.  The next step will be to take my light painting into the outdoors.  My conventional photography skills are still high on the priority list as well, and I can’t wait to get some new lenses.
